The Skills to Back It Up
While we teach you to avoid physical confrontation, sometimes, it’s just not up to you. In those types of situations, you need physical skills. At McCune’s Martial Arts, you’ll also be enrolled in several of our programs, including our Aerobic Kickboxing class, which will help give you the athleticism you need for realistic self defense, as well as complementing other physical aspects of your training.
Effective self-defense skills that you can rely on can’t be taught in a single class or even several classes. Just like any skill, they need to be practiced and kept sharp. As you train, you will develop muscle memory. When you are under flight-or-fight conditions, it is extremely difficult to keep a clear mind, but with consistent training, your body will react as if it has a mind of its own, keeping you safe. While violence should always be the last option, for you, it will be a practical option.
